ALECODEX SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS

Home/About

One engineer. Direct line.

AleCodex Software Solutions is the independent practice of Alexander Fountain — an AI software engineer who'd rather ship something that moves a number than bill for another status meeting.

The short version

From games computing to production AI

I graduated from the University of Lincoln with a 2:1 in Computer Science (Games Computing), which is a slightly unusual route into business software — and a useful one. Games teach you to build systems that hold together under load, with tight performance budgets and no room for the excuse that it works on your machine.

Since then I've written trading algorithms that run unattended against live markets, built gameplay systems in Unreal Engine 5, and spent the last year specialising in AI-driven eCommerce automation — building the listing pipelines, content generation and internal tools that contributed to a 119% profit increase for the client.

AleCodex exists because that kind of work shouldn't only be available to companies large enough to employ an engineer full-time. The same systems that transform a mid-sized retailer's operation are well within reach of a smaller business — they just need someone who can build them.

Where the skills came from

Four years of production work across three very different industries — each one leaving something the others didn't.

AI Software Engineer

UK eCommerce retailer · On-site Jun 2025 — May 2026
  • Developed AI-driven automation systems that contributed to a 119% increase in company profits by streamlining eCommerce operational workflows.
  • Designed and deployed automations that reduced manual workload and improved processing efficiency across multiple departments.
  • Built internal tools, dashboards and web-based systems — including fully designed HTML interfaces — to support automation and product workflows.
  • Engineered intelligent systems for product listing optimisation, AI content generation, data processing and workflow orchestration.
  • Worked with management and technical teams to identify bottlenecks and implement scalable AI solutions in Python, C++, ML models and custom APIs.

Junior Software Engineer

Venture capital firm · Remote May 2024 — Feb 2025
  • Designed and developed advanced trading algorithms for MetaTrader platforms using MQL4, MQL5 and C++.
  • Integrated AI-powered modules to improve trading decision accuracy and overall strategy performance.
  • Established robust error handling, logging systems and backtesting frameworks for reliable strategy execution.
  • Optimised code for efficiency and provided project leadership, collaborating with the team to meet stringent delivery deadlines.

Junior Game Developer

Independent games studio · Part-time Aug 2024 — Mar 2025
  • Contributed to open-world survival game mechanics using Unreal Engine 5 and Unity.
  • Built core gameplay systems including resource gathering, crafting and environmental storytelling, with bespoke environmental assets.
  • Worked closely with designers, programmers and 3D artists to uphold a cohesive creative vision.
  • Applied advanced level design and performance optimisation techniques to deliver immersive experiences.

BSc (Hons) Computer Science — Games Computing

University of Lincoln · 2:1 Oct 2021 — Jun 2024
  • Led a team of five on the Team Software Engineering Project, delivering a graphical artefact and full technical report.
  • Grounding in OOP, algorithms, graphics programming and software engineering practice across C++, C# and Unity.
How I work

Four things I won't compromise on

Say the hard thing early

If the idea won't work, the budget's wrong, or you don't need what you asked for, you hear it on the first call — not in month three when the money's spent.

Write it down

Scope, decisions and handover in writing. Documentation isn't bureaucracy — it's what stops a project becoming dependent on one person's memory.

Measure the outcome

Every build has a number attached before it starts — hours saved, orders processed, revenue moved. If it doesn't move, it wasn't worth building.

No lock-in, ever

Your code, your repositories, your accounts, standard technology. Staying with me should be a choice you keep making, not a trap you can't leave.

Let's find out if we're a fit

A short call costs you half an hour and nothing else. Worst case, you leave with a clearer view of the problem.
